Kreuzberg Museum : « Schade das Beton nicht brennt »

Il n’est pas très difficile de deviner que Kreuzberg est de loin notre quartier préféré. C’est un quartier fourmillant, attachant, vivant, qui s’affirme depuis plusieurs années comme un quartier à la mode, tout en restant populaire et accessible. À l’image de la ville entière, Kreuzberg recèle d’une multitude d’ambiances très différentes d’une rue à l’autre. Peu de points communs par exemple entre les après-midi paisibles de Kreuzberg 61 (Bergmannstrasse, Viktoria Park…) et les nuits agitées de Kreuzberg 36 (Oranienstrasse, le SO36…).
L’histoire de Kreuzberg 36 est si particulière qu’un petit musée lui est consacré. Situé à proximité de Kottbusser Tor, le musée de Kreuzberg est assez modeste mais fourmille de petits trésors. Situé au 2ème étage d’un étrange bâtiment, il se compose d’une seule pièce où les informations sont extrêmement condensées. On y trouve l’histoire du quartier des années 60 à aujourd’hui, avec une insistance toute particulière sur l’agitation sociale des années 80. C’est donc un musée très local, une sorte de musée du béton. D’abord l’infrastructure, l’architecture, et ses multiples évolutions. Ensuite, les gens qui y vivent et s’y accommodent.
Le premier intérêt de ce musée est la reconstitution du quartier en maquettes très précises, où chaque façade, chaque square, chaque boutique est représenté. Sous les maquettes, on trouve de curieuses jumelles dans lesquelles on aperçoit une photo en 3D d’un commerçant ou d’un habitant de Kreuzberg, dans sa boutique ou dans son appartement. Ces petits personnages figés dans les jumelles ont l’air étrangement vivants dans leur petite pièce en 3D.
Sur les murs, tout autour de la pièce, une longue frise chronologique reprend l’histoire du quartier grâce à des textes et des photos. Mieux vaut parler allemand si l’on veut saisir pleinement la dynamique de Kreuzberg. On y apprend que l’histoire du quartier, resté longtemps à la marge de la ville, a été très mouvementée. Situé à l’ouest du mur mais à l’est de la ville, le destin de Kreuzberg à l’époque du mur a été des plus singuliers. Dans les années 60 a été mise en œuvre une importante politique urbaine appelée « Sanierung », soit rénovation. Ce plan devait s’accompagner de destructions et de reconstructions d’immeubles et d’appartements pour leur donner un format standard, ce qui devait passer par de nombreuses expulsions et délogements. L’histoire de quartier est également étroitement liée à la communauté turque, largement concentrée à Kreuzberg dès les premières vagues de migration. Durant la période de « Sanierung », la communauté de Kreuzberg s’est animée, s’est révoltée, s’est unie contre. Scandalisée par les expulsions et les spéculations immobilières, elle a mis en place de nombreuses associations et réunions de quartier pour organiser la résistance par des actions spectaculaires comme l’occupation illégale de logements vides.
Enfin, confortablement installé dans un canapé, on peut achever sa visite en visionnant de courtes vidéos sur des thèmes qui ont fait l’histoire et la vie de Kreuzberg : la constitution du club mythique SO36, les manifestations, les émeutes urbaines et la répression policière, la communauté turque… On peut également y voir un film dont le titre pourrait être celui du musée : « Schade das Beton nicht Brennt ». Dommage que le béton ne brûle pas.
